Residents of Omupo in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have rescued a newborn baby boy who was found abandoned along a farm road. The infant, still with his placenta attached, was discovered by a passerby who immediately alerted other community members. Together, they rushed the baby to Omupo Cottage Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Medical Response and Condition
Dr. Ismail Bakare, the Chief Medical Director of Omupo Cottage Hospital, confirmed the incident on Monday, July 13, 2026. He stated that the baby was brought to the facility alive and has since been placed under medical observation. “The baby was brought to the hospital after being found abandoned along a farm path. He is stable and responding well to treatment,” Bakare said.
According to Punch, the newborn required immediate care due to the exposure and the fact that his placenta was still attached. Despite the harsh conditions in which he was found, the infant survived and is now receiving necessary medical interventions.
