A devastating rainstorm has claimed the lives of a 50-year-old woman, Aisha Sagir, and her 4-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu, in Unguwar Katsinawa, Bara Village, Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The severe weather, accompanied by strong winds, also destroyed numerous houses, livestock, and other valuables worth millions of naira in the Bara community.

Flash Flood Causes Major Destruction

A resident of Bara, Muhammad Nasiru, informed Daily Trust that while the downpour was heavy, the primary destruction was caused by a flash flood originating from the northern parts of the neighboring Jambba community. The floodwaters swept through Unguwar Katsinawa, washing away several houses.

“The flooded water struck from an unknown location at high speed, destroying houses, livestock, and other valuables because nobody thought water would come from that direction in Bara. He added that aside from property destruction, the incident has left many families homeless.
