Survives Kidnap Attempt on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A man has shared his harrowing experience of surviving a kidnap attempt along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, while also voicing his worries about the current state of security in Nigeria.

The incident occurred as he was traveling from Ibadan to Lagos, specifically around the Ajebo area in Ogun State. In his account, he described how the attack unfolded at approximately 7:30 pm. Suddenly, a suspect emerged from the bush carrying two heavy objects, attempting to force his vehicle to stop.

He narrated: 'I survived a kidnap attempt on my way to Lagos from Ibadan along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway — around Ajebo, Ogun State. At about 7:30pm, one of them suddenly jumped out from the bush carrying two heavy objects, trying to force my car to stop.'

The assailant threw the first object directly in front of his car as he was negotiating a slight bend. The driver managed to swerve around it, but the attacker quickly threw a second object. Before the other accomplices could position themselves, he brushed the main attacker with his car and sped away.

'Thankfully, I escaped alive, but my bonnet, bumper, headlamps, and fender were badly damaged,' he added. Expressing his frustration, he remarked, 'Omo… no be country una dey live ooo,' highlighting the precarious security situation in the country.
