Suspected Boko Haram fighters have killed three police officers and injured two others in a dawn attack on a Police Mobile Force camp in the Tenebo community of Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State. The attack occurred around 3:00 a.m., prompting dozens of residents to flee their homes.

According to a community source, heavily armed assailants stormed the camp, catching security personnel off guard. They opened fire in what witnesses described as a coordinated and brazen assault. The sound of sustained gunfire shattered the calm of the rural community, forcing families to flee into nearby bushes and neighboring villages for safety.
Many residents abandoned their belongings in a rush to escape the violence, while others remained in hiding hours after the attack for fear of the gunmen returning.

Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the attack but said more detailed information on casualties would be provided shortly.
Community Reaction
Residents expressed anger over the worsening security situation. A resident, Hassan Borgu, alleged a delay in response by other security operatives. "They killed three Mobile Police and injured some. Soldiers were told to follow them, but they refused. They said they are waiting for orders," he claimed. Borgu also criticized the effectiveness of the curfew imposed by authorities, stating that repeated attacks continue despite the restriction.
Previous Attacks in Kwara
The latest assault comes barely two weeks after a deadly overnight attack on the Kemanji community in the same local government area, where armed bandits killed several soldiers and abducted at least seven residents. That attack occurred around 3:00 a.m. on April 20, days after the community allegedly received a threat letter from suspected terrorists.
In a related incident, armed terrorists invaded the Wodata community in Edu Local Government Area during Jumu'at prayer hours, killing a farmer identified as Mr Amos on his farmland. Residents said the attackers looted shops and caused panic as people fled for safety.
The recurring attacks have heightened fear and frustration among residents, who question the effectiveness of security measures in the state.
