Three suspected kidnappers were killed early Wednesday morning as police foiled an abduction attempt at a school in Kogi State, Nigeria. The incident took place at about 2 a.m. at the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) Primary School in Ogaminana, Adavi Local Government Area.
Police Response
According to the Kogi State Police Command, officers responded swiftly to a distress call from the school. Upon arrival, they engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle, resulting in the death of three suspects. The remaining assailants fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
Arms and Ammunition Recovered
The police recovered three AK-47 rifles, 72 rounds of live ammunition, and other items from the suspects. The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, confirmed the recovery and stated that investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
No casualties were reported among the school staff, students, or security personnel. The police have assured the public of increased security in the area.
