Suspected terrorists have killed two people in separate violent attacks in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State. The National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, 28th June, 2026.
Community Leader Killed in Barkin Ladi
According to the statement, 58-year-old community leader of Gana-Ropp in Ropp District of Barkin Ladi, Daniel Pulle, was attacked and killed while returning home on Sunday. The incident occurred at about 7:45pm when Pulle was ambushed and shot dead by gunmen near the bridge linking the community.
Woman Succumbs to Injuries in Riyom
In a separate incident, one Mrs. Deborah Benjamin Kak, who was shot by terrorists at her residence in Lwa village, Bachi District of Riyom Local Government Area on 26th June 2026, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where she had been receiving treatment.
“The continued wave of attacks on innocent citizens in Plateau State has claimed two more lives in separate incidents in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas,” the statement read. “At about 7:45pm on Sunday, 28th June 2026, Mr. Daniel Pulle, 58, the Community Leader of Gana-Ropp in Ropp District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, was ambushed and shot dead by gunmen while returning home on his motorcycle near the bridge linking the community. In a similarly tragic incident, Mrs. Deborah Benjamin Kak, who was shot by terrorists at her residence in Lwa village, Bachi District of Riyom Local Government Area on 26th June 2026, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where she had been receiving treatment.”
Ongoing Security Concerns
These latest killings add to the growing list of violent incidents in Plateau State, raising concerns about the effectiveness of security measures in protecting residents. The Berom Youth Moulders have called for urgent action to address the persistent attacks on innocent civilians.
