A tragic road accident in the early hours of Wednesday has claimed the lives of ten people on a major highway in Plateau State. The fatal crash, which also left several others injured, occurred along the busy Jos-Bauchi road.

The Plateau road crash happened at approximately 12:12 a.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. The location was in the Jos North Local Government Area, specifically after a military checkpoint on the Jos-Bauchi road. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the collision involved four vehicles: two trailers and two mini buses identified as Ford Galaxy models.

Peter Longsan, the Superintendent and Route Commander who serves as the Public Education Officer for the FRSC in Plateau State, provided official confirmation of the incident. He stated that a total of 19 people were involved in the accident. The victims comprised 17 male adults and 2 female adults.

Rescue Operations and Casualty Figures

A swift joint rescue operation was mobilized following the Jos-Bauchi road accident. Personnel from the FRSC were joined by officers from the Nigeria Police Force, officials from the state ministry, and local villagers to evacuate the victims.

Tragically, 10 adult men lost their lives on the spot. The injured survivors were rushed to multiple medical facilities for urgent attention. These hospitals included:
