A devastating road accident on a major highway in Yobe State has resulted in the loss of three lives and left six other individuals with injuries. The tragic incident underscores the persistent dangers on Nigerian roads.

The fatal crash occurred along the Potiskum Road at Mile-5 in Yobe State. Musa Ali Maigari, the Public Relations Officer for the Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA), confirmed the grim details in an official statement released on Saturday, December 27.
According to the agency's report, the accident happened around 12:00 pm on Friday, December 26. Upon receiving an emergency alert, Babagana Alhaji Modu Bature Goniri, the General Manager and Corps Commandant of YOROTA, swiftly mobilized the agency's Rescue Squad to the scene to provide critical assistance.
Emergency Response and Preliminary Findings
The initial investigation into the cause of the crash points to a tyre burst as the primary factor. This sudden failure likely led to a loss of vehicle control, culminating in the tragic event.
In a coordinated rescue effort, personnel from YOROTA worked alongside teams from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and YEMABUS. Together, they successfully evacuated all the injured victims from the crash site. The wounded were rushed to the Yobe State Teaching Hospital in Damaturu to receive urgent and necessary medical care.
