Tragic Lagos Road Accident Claims Life of Dispatch Rider
A dispatch rider has been killed in a fatal road crash along the Motorways inward Estate axis of Alapere, Lagos State. The incident occurred when an empty tanker, traveling at excessive speed, struck the rider's motorcycle, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.

Preliminary reports confirm that the tanker involved was branded "NIPCO" and bore the registration number TTN-776ZQ. It was moving at a high velocity when it collided with the dispatch rider, leading to the tragic outcome. Following the impact, officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrived promptly to manage the chaotic situation.
Upon arrival, LASTMA officers encountered a group of angry dispatch riders who had confronted the tanker driver in response to the incident. The officers acted swiftly to rescue the injured driver and handed him over to personnel from the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS). He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Police Intervention and Official Response
To restore order and disperse the agitated crowd, operatives from the Alausa Police Station were deployed to the scene. In reaction to the accident, LASTMA General Manager, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased rider. "This unfortunate incident underscores the urgent need for heightened vigilance and collective responsibility among all road users to safeguard lives," Mr Bakare-Oki stated.
