Adamawa Tragedy: Woman Killed, Sisters Injured as Politician's Convoy Hits Tricycle
Politician's convoy kills woman, injures siblings in Adamawa

A family in Adamawa State is demanding justice and accountability after a convoy belonging to a prominent politician allegedly caused a fatal accident in Yola, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in the Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa state. According to accounts from the victims' family, the convoy of Mr. Emmanuel Musa, a popular politician and alleged 2027 governorship candidate, was driving recklessly when it struck a tricycle.

The impact of the collision claimed the life of one woman and left several passengers with serious injuries. The injured victims, including two sisters, Comfort and Ijagla, were rushed to the Accident and Emergency Unit at the Modibbo Adama Teaching Hospital (MAUTH) in Yola for urgent medical attention.

Family's Anguish and Call for Justice

In an emotional account to press, Magdalene Stephen, a sibling to the injured sisters, narrated the family's ordeal. She revealed she was at a wedding reception when she received the devastating call about the accident.

"I immediately rushed to the hospital, when I arrived, my sisters were in deep pain," Magdalene stated. She explained that after initial treatment, the patients were transferred to the female ward, with the family bearing the full cost of medical bills until discharge.

The family's grief is compounded by the alleged conduct of the politician's convoy. The vehicles did not stop at the scene, and to date, there has been no show of remorse, concern, or apology from Mr. Emmanuel Musa or his representatives.

"Our main reason for being upset is, at least there should be a sign of remorse from them... but from all indications, it was an act of reckless driving," Magdalene emphasized. "We spent four days in the hospital, we were expecting to see someone or a phone call... but none of such happened."

Demands for Legal Action and Safer Roads

The bereaved family is now calling for legal action against the driver responsible and stronger measures to curb reckless driving by convoys within towns and cities.

"I want justice to be served for my siblings and the innocent woman whose life was cut short," Magdalene declared. "The driver should face the law for driving in such a reckless manner... We are not after money, all we want is a show of concern."

She also issued a broader appeal to authorities, stating, "It is high time the government take drastic measures towards reckless driving within the town or city to avoid further occurrence of such incident." She confirmed her siblings are gradually recovering from their injuries.

This incident has sparked renewed accusations against political figures whose convoys are often accused of disregarding traffic laws and endangering public safety.
