Boko Haram Attack Army Base, Eight Soldiers Feared Dead

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly attacked a Nigerian Army base along the Mandara–Buratai Road in Borno State, resulting in the deaths of at least eight soldiers, with several others wounded. The assault targeted a position of the 162 Battalion in the early hours of Friday.

Military sources indicated that the attackers struck around 4 a.m. during heavy rainfall, using the adverse weather to storm the base in large numbers and overrun parts of the facility. Some accounts also suggested that the fallen soldiers were subjected to further brutal treatment, though this information remains unverified.

Reinforcement troops have been deployed to the area as operations continue to assess casualties. As of press time, no official statement has been released by the Nigerian military.
