Borno Mosque Bombing: FG Orders Security Intensification, Vows Justice
FG Reacts to Borno Mosque Attack, Boosts Security

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a strong condemnation following a devastating bomb explosion at a mosque in the Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri, Borno State. The attack, which occurred recently, resulted in the tragic loss of approximately five lives and left several other worshippers with injuries.

Federal Government's Firm Response and Security Directive

In an official statement released on Thursday, Vice President Kashim Shettima described the incident as a direct assault on innocent citizens and the nation's hard-earned peace. Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated an immediate and significant intensification of security operations across Borno State in direct response to the attack.

The Vice President confirmed that the government has already initiated the deployment of additional tactical security teams to the affected region. Their primary objective is to track down, apprehend, and ensure that those responsible for this heinous act face the full consequences of the law. "The Federal Government will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the peace and security of our nation," Shettima declared emphatically.

An Attack That "Will Not Break Nigeria's Resolve"

While labeling the bombing a despicable act of terrorism, Vice President Shettima was resolute in stating that such violence would not fracture Nigeria's unity or weaken its determination to combat terror. He expressed unwavering confidence in the country's existing security architecture, asserting that it would not only lead to the arrest of the perpetrators but also help unravel the complete circumstances behind the bombing.

"Our security agencies are working round the clock to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to justice immediately," Shettima assured the public. He reaffirmed the Tinubu administration's constitutional commitment to protecting lives and property nationwide, a pledge consistently upheld since assuming office in 2023.

Condolences and Continued Collaboration

The Federal Government, through the Vice President, extended its deepest sympathies to the Borno State Government under Professor Babagana Zulum, the residents of Maiduguri, and particularly the families who lost loved ones in the attack. Shettima emphasized that the government is working in close partnership with state authorities and local security agencies to enhance the protection of vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure, not only in the North East but across all regions of Nigeria.

The administration has pledged to continue providing all necessary resources and support to security agencies to decisively defeat terrorism in every form. This incident has sparked emotional outpourings, including from a bereaved brother of one victim who shared a touching tribute online, highlighting the profound personal toll of the attack.
