Terrorists Kill Butchers Leader, Vigilante in Katsina

Suspected terrorists have killed the leader of the Butchers Association of Nigeria in an attack on the outskirts of Ruwan Godiya village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State. Security sources confirmed that troops from Sector 2 under Operation FANSAN YAMMA responded to the incident at approximately 1:25 p.m. on April 21, 2026, after receiving reports of terrorist activity in the area.

Details of the Attack

Upon arrival, the troops discovered that Sa’adu Amadu, identified as the leader of the butchers’ association in Ruwan Godiya, had been shot dead in his compound. The attack was allegedly carried out by a suspected terrorist kingpin known as Dogo Musa. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the killing.

Troops pursued the suspected attackers along their withdrawal route, but no contact was made. Security sources added that search operations and patrols have been intensified in the general area to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.

Vigilante Member Killed

In a similar development, terrorists also killed vigilante member Labiru Namada in Yankara, Faskari LGA, a few days earlier. Namada was attacked after returning home from patrol, with bandits reportedly waiting outside his residence. He had previously survived multiple encounters with armed groups.

Residents noted that Namada played a key role in local security efforts amid ongoing insecurity in the area. The killings highlight the persistent security challenges in Katsina State and the risks faced by community leaders and security volunteers.
