Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled a terrorist movement in Katsina State, recovering a motorcycle during an ambush operation, according to an operational update made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
Ambush in Dandume
The troops of 17 Brigade, in conjunction with the police, acted on intelligence about terrorists moving on motorcycles around Dandume in Dandume Local Government Area. The troops mobilised and ambushed the terrorists on their way to Funtua, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes.
Response to Attacks in Zamfara and Sokoto
Troops of 1 Brigade also responded to a terrorist attack on motorists along the Anka-Gummi Road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara. The troops mobilised to the scene but made no contact with the attackers, while some injured civilians were evacuated to General Hospital, Anka, for treatment.
In Sokoto, troops from the CSI Battalion VII and Forest Guards responded to reports of terrorist activities at Kalanjeni Dutse in the Tangaza Local Government Area. The troops discovered that a civilian had sustained a gunshot wound and was evacuated to Tangaza General Hospital for treatment.
Rescue in Plateau and Election Briefing
Troops of Sector 6, Operation SAFE HAVEN, rescued a civilian stabbed by unidentified assailants at Zawan Junction in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau. The victim, who sustained injuries to his neck and stomach, was evacuated to ECWA Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Army Headquarters monitoring team led by Maj.-Gen. Kenneth Chigbu visited the headquarters of Operation SAFE CONDUCT in Ede, Osun. Chigbu charged troops deployed for the Aug. 15 governorship election to remain professional, adhere to the Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement, and report security concerns promptly.
