Two Suspected Terrorists Arrested in Yobe by Troops

Troops of the 159 Battalion have apprehended two suspected terrorists during a stop-and-search operation in Yobe State. The suspects, identified as Dahiru Mohammed, aged 40, and Ismail Adamu, aged 34, both natives of Geidam, were taken into custody at approximately 8:00 a.m. on April 30, 2026, at a checkpoint operated by troops at B Company location in Kanama.

Details of the Arrest

The suspects were intercepted while returning from Damasak market. Troops conducted a routine check, which led to their arrest. According to security sources, preliminary investigations revealed incriminating images on their mobile phones, suggesting possible affiliation with terrorist elements.

Recovered Items

Items recovered from the suspects include two smartphones, seven hijabs, seven pairs of footwear, two towels, 107 veils, one umbrella, two praying mats, 34 turbans, one set of prayer beads, children’s clothing, and the sum of N408,500. The suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and possible prosecution.
