In a significant crackdown on criminal activities, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has reinforced security measures across all state borders. This decisive action led to the arrest of 34 suspected criminals involved in various offences.
Major Arrests and Operation Details
The arrests were made as part of the ongoing Operation Le Won Jade, which is being executed across all 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State. According to the Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, the operation has been successful in flushing out miscreants, bandits, and kidnappers from the state's forests.
Adeleye disclosed that while a total of 34 individuals were apprehended in the past week, 16 suspects were publicly paraded. The breakdown of those paraded includes ten individuals for disturbing public peace, three for suspected kidnapping, and three for contravening anti-grazing laws.
Enhanced Security Measures and School Safety
In response to recent security breaches and kidnapping incidents, Commander Adeleye announced that the corps has significantly heightened its surveillance efforts. A key focus has been placed on ensuring the safety of boarding schools, particularly those located in border towns and outlying communities.
Enhanced 24-7 patrols have been mounted around these educational institutions to safeguard students and staff. Adeleye emphasized that the 'Ember Month' patrols at the state's borders have also been intensified to provide maximum protection for residents during this period.
Reassurance to Ondo State Residents
Commander Adeleye used the opportunity to reassure the people of Ondo State that the various security agencies are working in concert. The primary objective remains the guarantee of safety for lives and property throughout the state.
He confirmed that the regular 24-7 patrols within urban areas are continuing and have yielded tremendous results. The ongoing Operation Le Won Jade remains a cornerstone of the strategy to rid the state of criminal elements and maintain peace.
