Phillies Star Alec Bohm Files Multi-Million-Dollar Lawsuit Against Parents Over Financial Allegations
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm has initiated a significant legal battle by filing a lawsuit against his parents, Daniel and Lisa Bohm, seeking damages exceeding $1 million. The suit, lodged in a Philadelphia court on Wednesday, March 24, 2026, alleges that his parents siphoned substantial amounts of his money into accounts under their control and utilized portions of these funds to cover personal expenses.
Allegations of Financial Misconduct and Denied Access
According to the lawsuit, Bohm began reviewing his personal and financial affairs in recent months, only to discover that his parents had transferred millions of dollars from his personal accounts to accounts they managed. The legal documents state that his parents refused to grant him access to these accounts or provide the information he requested about them. They allegedly attempted to "freeze" him out of four accounts established as limited liability companies (LLCs), and Bohm now believes they "converted a sizeable amount" of his money from those accounts "to their own use."
The first of these accounts was reportedly opened in 2019, with his parents informing him that they assigned themselves a 10% stake strictly for administrative purposes, while Bohm was the "true" owner of all LLC assets. These accounts were intended for various purposes, such as investing in securities or purchasing real estate. Additionally, the lawsuit claims that money from the Alec Bohm Foundation was used to pay his parents' expenses.
Parents' Defense and Emotional Response
In response to the allegations, Daniel and Lisa Bohm, through their lawyer Robert Eckard, have denied any wrongdoing. Eckard stated that they are "deeply saddened by the allegations" and plan to aggressively defend themselves. He emphasized that Alec Bohm has had full access to the accounts and that his parents are covering his expenses on their personal credit cards. "Mr. and Mrs. Bohm love their son very much and have always acted in his best interests, both personally and professionally, and still do so to this day," Eckard said in a statement.
Bohm's Silence and Legal Demands
Following the 2026 season opening game on Thursday, Bohm declined to comment to reporters, stating, "I'm not going to address any personal matters right now." The lawsuit seeks at least $3 million in damages, demands that his parents hand over control of the accounts, and requires them to hire an accountant to meticulously track every dollar transferred from Bohm's personal accounts to the accounts they controlled. Notably, the lawsuit mentions that his parents live in a recreational vehicle and travel the country.
Alec Bohm, 29, is currently under a $10.2 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies for the 2026 baseball season. This legal dispute highlights the complexities of financial management within families, especially in high-stakes professional sports environments.
