Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has declared that the club will not be pressured into making panic signings during the winter transfer window, even after a devastating injury blow saw three key players ruled out for several weeks.
Injury Crisis Hits French Champions
The crisis unfolded during Tuesday's tough 2-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich. The match, played on November 5, 2025, left PSG without three of its most important stars.
Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele suffered a calf injury and will require a few weeks of treatment. Defender Achraf Hakimi was diagnosed with a severe sprain in his left ankle, also sidelining him for several weeks. To compound the problem, Nuno Mendes sprained his left knee.
This trio now joins young talent Desire Doue on the injury list, who was stretchered off with a thigh problem in a Ligue 1 game against Lorient just last week.
Luis Enrique's Calm and Confident Stance
Addressing the media on Saturday ahead of PSG's Ligue 1 away match against Lyon, Luis Enrique presented a picture of complete composure. "We are always open to transfer opportunities, but there’s no rush, no need to hurry," the Spanish coach stated.
He emphasized that the club has a plan and will not deviate from it due to temporary setbacks. "Everything has to be planned," he continued. "There’s no problem, they’re injuries of course, but all teams have them. We’re calm and relaxed, not worried."
Rather than focusing on the negatives, Enrique is choosing to see the silver lining in this "very unusual" start to the season. He believes the situation presents a valuable chance for other squad members to step up. "Every difficulty offers opportunities to give playing time to [other] players," he added.
Looking Ahead to the Lyon Challenge
The league leaders face a test of their squad depth on Sunday as they travel to face Lyon. In a potential bright spot, South Korean winger Lee Kang-in could mark his 100th appearance for PSG in the fixture.
However, Lyon will also be dealing with their own selection headaches. Their captain, Corentin Tolisso, is a major doubt due to a hamstring injury. Coach Paulo Fonseca expressed his concern, stating, "We’ll see if he can play, but I have my doubts. It’s very risky to play him. I don’t want to lose him for the upcoming matches."
Lyon's top scorer, attacking midfielder Pavel Sulc, is also unavailable because of a hamstring issue. Despite these absences, Lyon, currently sixth in the table, will be looking to close the four-point gap on the reigning champions.
