The Super Falcons of Nigeria have officially commenced preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with their training camp opening in Casablanca, Morocco, on Monday. All 25 invited players are expected to report before the team relocates to Rabat for their Group C matches.

Group C Challenges Await

The nine-time African champions will face Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt in Group C. Nigeria begins its title defense against Malawi at the Al Madina Stadium on August 28, aiming for a record-extending 11th WAFCON crown.

Zambia Sends Early Warning

Zambia defender Margaret Belemu has issued a warning ahead of the crucial clash, stating that the Copper Queens are now a stronger side than the team that suffered a heavy defeat to Nigeria in the previous edition. "We know it's a very difficult group, but we're battle-ready. Playing against Nigeria is always a big challenge, and we're looking forward to it," Belemu said via COSAFA. "We lost to Nigeria the last time we played them, but this will be a different challenge. We're preparing well and believe we'll be ready when the tournament begins."
