In a remarkable display of philanthropy and sportsmanship, the 29th TotalEnergies Charity Golf Tournament concluded in Lagos over the weekend, generating a substantial donation of N8 million for two deserving charity homes.
Significant Donations for Worthy Causes
The event, held at the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938, saw participating golfers collectively contribute N6 million, while TotalEnergies Upstream Company in Nigeria added another N2 million to the charitable pool. The beneficiaries, Child Lifeline in Gbagada and the Nigerwives Braille Book Production Centre on Victoria Island, each received N4 million to support their vital community work.
Child Lifeline focuses on educating and reuniting street-connected children with their families, while the Nigerwives Braille Book Production Centre provides essential Braille books to schools across Nigeria, making education accessible to visually impaired students nationwide.
Corporate Commitment to Community Development
Mr. Matthieu Bouyer, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Upstream Company in Nigeria, described the tournament as a "unique occasion" where athletic competition seamlessly blended with humanitarian spirit. He emphasized that the event transcended typical golf competitions, creating lasting impacts beyond the golf course.
"Today's tournament is not just about fairways and scorecards; it's about experiencing the thrill of a good game while embracing compassion, strengthening our community, and reaffirming our commitment to giving back," Bouyer stated during the closing ceremony.
The managing director highlighted TotalEnergies' broader support for sports in Nigeria, mentioning their sponsorship of major events including:

- National Men's Division One & Two Basketball Leagues

Tournament Results and Lasting Legacy
Beyond the charitable contributions, the tournament featured competitive golf with several participants emerging victorious in their respective categories. John Christopher Agrati claimed the title of TotalEnergies Best Man, while Sabina Brochard was crowned TotalEnergies Best Lady.
In the men's stableford competition, Silas Galba secured first place with 37 points, followed by Folabi Balogun with 36 points and Victor Irince-Koko with 35 points. The ladies' category saw Aissatou Diof emerge victorious with 36 points, ahead of Fortune LongJohn (34 points) and Ronke Iyiola (29 points).
Special recognition in the Nearest to the Pin Hole in One category went to Paul Brisibe for the men and Sabine Brochard for the ladies.
Bouyer reflected on the tournament's evolution since its inception in 2011, noting that it has grown into a "cherished tradition" for the company. He emphasized that the funds raised represent more than just financial figures—they serve as lifelines for the supported charity homes, covering essential needs such as assistive devices, medications, therapy sessions, counseling services, and awareness campaigns.
