NFF Inaugurates Electoral and Appeals Committees Today in Abuja
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that it will officially inaugurate the Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee today, following their constitution at last week's Extraordinary General Assembly held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. This significant step marks the formal commencement of preparations for the upcoming elections into the NFF Executive Committee.
Inauguration Details and Leadership
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau will preside over the inauguration ceremony, which is scheduled to take place at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja. The federation confirmed that a total of 12 individuals have been appointed to serve across the two committees, with seven members assigned to the Electoral Committee and five to the Electoral Appeals Committee.
According to a statement released by the NFF, the Electoral Committee will consist of five full members, including a chairperson, a vice chairperson, and three ordinary members, along with two alternates. Similarly, the Electoral Appeals Committee will have three full members and two alternates.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Committees
The Electoral Committee is tasked with supervising the entire electoral process in strict adherence to the provisions outlined in the NFF Statutes (March 2026 edition) and the Electoral Code (March 2026). This committee will be responsible for all aspects related to the organization, execution, and supervision of the elections scheduled to occur during the Congress.
The inauguration today signals that both committees will immediately begin their duties, setting the stage for the elections into the NFF Executive Committee, which are set to be held in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, 26th September 2026.

The individuals appointed to serve on these committees include notable figures such as Matthew Burkala (SAN); Justice C. J. Aneke; Mr Emmanuel Dada Obafemi; Alhaji Babagoni Grema, Benjamin Sak; Mallam Bature Musa; Prof. Abdulmalik Awwal; Arinze Azubuike Anughere; Akogun Olugbenga Omole; Abayomi Akin Omoyimi; Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie, Esq; and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam. Their diverse backgrounds and expertise are expected to contribute to a transparent and efficient electoral process.
