Teams from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Rwanda, and hosts Nigeria are expected to arrive in Lagos today for the 2026 Nigeria Cricket Federation's (NCF) T20 International Women's Invitational Tournament. The competition is scheduled to commence on Friday, March 20, and will run through March 28, showcasing top-tier women's cricket talent from across Africa.

The tournament will be held at two prominent venues in Lagos: the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Cricket Oval and the UNILAG Oval. South Africa and Zimbabwe are participating with their U-19 teams, which are recognized as some of the best in Africa, adding a competitive edge to the event.
Opening Matches and Key Fixtures
According to the official programme, the tournament kicks off on Friday with Ghana facing Rwanda at 10:00 a.m., followed by Zimbabwe versus Nigeria at 2:00 p.m. On Saturday, South Africa will enter the competition against Ghana at 10:00 a.m., while Zimbabwe takes on Rwanda at 2:00 p.m. Sunday's action features a West African clash between Nigeria and Ghana in the morning, followed by Rwanda versus South Africa later in the day.
Monday, March 23, is designated as a rest day for all teams. The competition resumes on Tuesday with a Southern Africa showdown between South Africa and Zimbabwe, and Nigeria renewing its rivalry with Rwanda. On March 25, Nigeria will challenge South Africa in the opening game, while Ghana and Zimbabwe will compete in the day's final match.
Tournament Structure and Activities
The invitational will span nine days, utilizing a round-robin format followed by classification matches and the final. Organizers have allocated March 26 for sightseeing, allowing teams to explore iconic locations in and around Lagos. The semifinals are set for March 27, with the third-place and final games concluding the event on March 28.

Meanwhile, Rwanda has selected a 14-woman squad led by Captain Diane Bimenyimana for the tournament. The team combines experienced players with emerging talent, aiming to make a strong impression in this short-format competition.
