The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, has called on members of the Project Implementation Task Team (PITT) to apply the skills acquired from their five-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) training to improve productivity, research, and reporting in the Ministry.
Charge at the Closing of AI Zero to Hero Training
Ajani gave the charge on Thursday at the close of the “AI Zero to Hero” training programme organised for PITT members at Digital Bridge, Utako, Abuja. She emphasised that the training should not be seen merely as an opportunity to complete assignments and obtain certificates, but as a chance to produce evidence-based reports, analytical assessments, and research relevant to their responsibilities.
The Permanent Secretary stated that the training had equipped participants with digital and AI tools that would enable them to independently conduct research, analyse activities, and identify areas for improvement within their departments and PITT sub-committees. She urged the participants to take greater initiative and not always wait for instructions before conducting constructive research and analysis on issues relevant to their work.
Goal to Translate Knowledge into Measurable Improvements
According to Ajani, the ultimate objective of the training was to translate the knowledge acquired into measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency, and service delivery across the Ministry. She also encouraged the participants to share their knowledge with colleagues, stressing that continuous knowledge transfer would expand the number of officers capable of effectively deploying emerging technologies in the public service.
Ajani cautioned that the completion of the five-day programme should not mark the end of their learning. She urged them to continue developing their digital skills, explore new AI applications, and improve their proficiency in using emerging technologies.
Advice on Professionalism and Knowledge Sharing
She further advised the participants to distinguish themselves through competence, professionalism, and initiative, noting that professional reputation was built over time through the quality and impact of work delivered. Ajani commended the organisers, facilitators, Zimedy Services, and the participants for their commitment to the programme, and urged the trainees to complete their assignments and demonstrate the practical impact of the knowledge gained through their work.
She expressed confidence that the training would contribute to strengthening innovation, productivity, and evidence-based decision-making in the Ministry of Interior.
