FinTribe Empowers Women to Bridge Gender Wealth Gap on International Women's Day 2026

FinTribe, a platform dedicated to women's wealth and financial inclusion, celebrated International Women's Day (IWD) 2026 with a comprehensive knowledge-sharing session designed to boost women's involvement in Nigeria's capital markets. The free virtual training, held on Tuesday, centered on the theme 'Bridging the gender wealth gap: How women can build a profitable investment portfolio with mutual funds.'

Over 5,000 Participants Engage in Financial Training

The event drew more than 5,000 female participants from various backgrounds and levels of financial expertise. Attendees were educated on fundamental investment principles, portfolio structuring, and risk management techniques, with a strong focus on fostering sustainable, long-term wealth accumulation rather than pursuing short-term profits.

FinTribe emphasized the necessity of this training, highlighting that discussions about women and finances are gaining traction, yet a significant disparity persists between earning, saving, and actual investing activities. The company pointed out that despite increasing awareness, fewer than 2.9 percent of women actively engage in structured investment opportunities, resulting in a vast untapped potential for wealth creation.

Simplifying Mutual Funds for Beginners

Led by Jennifer Awirigwe, the founder of FinTribe, the session demystified mutual funds as a practical and accessible entry point into the capital market, especially for novices. It offered detailed, step-by-step instructions on how women can shift from informal saving practices to structured, goal-driven investing strategies.

Joy Daniels, the head of operations at FinTribe, noted that this initiative aligns with the IWD 2026 theme, 'Give to Gain,' underscoring the concept that providing women with financial knowledge yields a tangible economic impact. "When over 2,000 women are equipped with the right investment knowledge at once, the ripple effect goes beyond individual growth; it strengthens families, communities, and the broader economy," Daniels stated.

Commitment to Ongoing Financial Education

Jennifer Awirigwe further explained that FinTribe plans to continue its efforts in women-focused financial education through programs like its Wealth Builders Academy, which has already assisted thousands of women in transitioning from passive saving to active investing. Through this IWD event, the company reaffirmed its dedication to making wealth-building knowledge accessible, practical, and scalable throughout Nigeria.
