Nigerian Tech Professional Launches Blishcrown Gaming Platform

A Nigerian technology professional based in the United Kingdom, Adedapo Idris Morenigbade, has announced the upcoming launch of Blishcrown, a skill-based gaming platform. The platform draws direct inspiration from the vibrant game centre culture that flourished across Nigeria during the early 2000s.

Inspired by University Game Centre Culture

Morenigbade, popularly known as Dapo, revealed that the concept for Blishcrown originated not in a corporate boardroom but from his personal experiences nearly two decades ago. While studying at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), he frequented local game centres, particularly a popular spot known as Flames Game Centre.

He described these centres as crucial community hubs where students gathered daily to compete, socialize, and build reputations based purely on gaming skill. "Back then, you didn't win because you had money. You won because you were better," Morenigbade explained. "There was always someone who organised matches, kept scores, and made sure everything was fair. That culture stayed with me."

A Platform Built on Fairness and Transparency

Blishcrown is designed to digitally recreate that authentic gaming experience by enabling players worldwide to compete in fair, skill-based matches. The platform distinguishes itself from many contemporary gaming services that often incorporate luck-based mechanics or pay-to-win systems.

Instead, Blishcrown emphasizes strict performance-driven competition and operational transparency, aiming to foster genuine community interaction similar to physical game centres. Morenigbade's own technological career was significantly influenced by his gaming community involvement, with a chance encounter near a game centre leading to his first IT sector role.

From Fintech to Gaming Passion

Currently working as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer in the UK, Morenigbade described Blishcrown as a return to his foundational passion. "I've tried building other products, including fintech solutions, but I realised that gaming and the community around it have always been at the centre of my story," he stated.

Beyond merely hosting games, Blishcrown is being developed as a community-driven platform. Morenigbade plans to openly share the product development process, inviting gamers to follow, contribute, and grow alongside the brand. The platform is currently in preparation for its official launch, with early community engagement initiatives already underway.

This launch occurs within a broader context of Nigerian technological innovation, where professionals across Lagos, Abuja, and other cities are driving advancements in fintech, cloud computing, and open-source projects. Nigerian developers continue to blend technical expertise with practical impact across various sectors including education, healthcare, and blockchain technology.
