Dangote Refinery has once again reduced its gantry petrol price nationwide, bringing it down to N1,125 per litre from the previous N1,175 per litre. This marks a N50 decrease, as confirmed by the spokesperson of Dangote Group, Anthony Chijiena, who stated, "It is true our petrol gantry price was reduced by N50 per litre." The announcement was made on Thursday, June 25.
Coastal Supply Price Also Reduced
In addition to the gantry price cut, the coastal petrol supply price of Dangote Refinery has decreased from N1,495,215 per metric tonne to N1,428,165 per metric tonne. This reduction aligns with a significant drop in global crude oil prices, which have fallen to $69 and $73 per barrel—levels not seen since before the Middle East crisis.
Two Weeks of Consecutive Reductions
This latest price cut follows a previous reduction on June 16, when Dangote Refinery lowered its gantry petrol price by N75 per litre. That earlier reduction triggered a nationwide decrease in retail fuel prices days later. Cumulatively, Dangote Refinery has reduced its petrol price by N125 per litre over the past two weeks, reflecting the easing of global crude oil prices.
Current Retail Prices and Public Demand
Currently, retail fuel prices in Abuja and its environs range between N1,241 and N1,305 per litre. However, Nigerians are clamoring for further reductions, hoping to see prices drop to around N800 to N900 per litre—the rates that prevailed before the Iran-United States-Israel war, which escalated on February 28, 2026. The public expects that the continued decline in crude oil prices will translate into more affordable fuel at the pump.
