FUNAAB and Agri-Tech Firm Forge Partnership to Advance Agricultural Innovation
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun State has officially entered into a strategic partnership with agri-tech practitioners through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration is aimed at strengthening efforts to promote agricultural innovation, enhance research capabilities, and bolster national food security initiatives across Nigeria.
Formalizing a Longstanding Relationship
During a recent meeting, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, expressed his appreciation for the enduring relationship between the university and Agro Allied Services Limited, also known as ABEO FARMS. Prof. Kehinde highlighted that the formalization of this partnership is designed to deepen the existing collaboration for mutual benefit, ensuring that both entities can leverage their strengths effectively.
Prof. Kehinde emphasized that FUNAAB remains steadfast in its commitment to fulfilling its three-fold mandate of Teaching, Research, and Community engagement. He noted that partnerships with industry players are crucial for expanding the practical impact of academic research and addressing real-world agricultural challenges faced by farmers and communities.
Focus on Community Service and Technological Advancements
The Vice-Chancellor stressed the importance of community service, pointing out that the university has been actively extending its influence beyond the campus to benefit society at large. He explained that by integrating modern technologies such as precision agriculture and other innovative farming practices, the partnership aims to significantly improve agricultural productivity and food production in Nigeria.
Prof. Kehinde added that effective utilization of both human and material resources is essential for maximizing the country's agricultural potential. This approach is expected to drive sustainable development and resilience in the face of evolving agricultural demands.

In his remarks, Mr. Tolu Eko, the team lead of the visiting agri-tech practitioners, assured FUNAAB of their dedication to strengthening the partnership. He expressed a collaborative spirit aimed at advancing agricultural development through shared knowledge and resources.
Mr. Eko also highlighted that this collaboration will play a pivotal role in addressing emerging challenges affecting food production, particularly the impacts of climate change on agriculture.
