Governor Otti Optimistic About Aba's Economic Revival Through Local Production
Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has declared that the commissioning of Ultimum Limited's new beverage plant in Aba serves as clear evidence of renewed investor confidence and a significant economic recovery taking hold in the state. The facility, strategically located within the Osisioma Industrial Layout, is poised to manufacture carbonated soft drinks under the popular Razzl brand, featuring a diverse range of flavors including cola, orange, lemon, and grapefruit variants.
A Symbol of Renewed Belief in Aba's Potential
During the commissioning ceremony, Governor Otti expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Aba is alive again. What we are witnessing here today is not just the opening of a factory, but the return of belief in our economy. Investors will always go where there is clarity, stability, and opportunity. Our focus has been to build that environment, and today's commissioning shows that the strategy is working." He emphasized that this development reflects a growing belief in Aba's untapped economic potential and marks a pivotal moment for the region.
Infrastructure Improvements Attracting Private Investment
The governor further elaborated that ongoing, concerted efforts to enhance critical infrastructure and improve the overall business climate in Abia State are now beginning to yield tangible results by attracting substantial private investment. He highlighted that the state government's proactive policies are creating a fertile ground for economic growth and industrial development.
Company Leadership Cites Aba's Commercial Strengths
Chairman of Ultimum Limited, Whalen Kadji, explained that the company's strategic decision to invest in Aba was primarily driven by the city's renowned commercial potential and its robust, entrepreneurial base. He noted that Aba's dynamic market and skilled workforce presented an ideal location for their expansion plans.
Managing Director of the firm, Austin Ufomba, added that the new plant is designed to bolster local production capabilities and create extensive opportunities across the entire value chain. He detailed that the facility is expected to:
- Generate numerous direct and indirect employment opportunities for residents.
- Support and empower local businesses through partnerships and sourcing.
- Strengthen and optimize supply chains throughout the South-East and South-South regions.
The company also announced ambitious plans to expand distribution networks nationwide, aiming to make Razzl beverages widely available across Nigeria. Ultimum Limited, which operates under the larger Kadji Group umbrella, commenced its operations in Nigeria in 2022 and views this new plant as a cornerstone of its growth strategy in the country.
This development underscores a broader trend of economic revitalization in Aba, long considered a commercial hub, and signals a positive shift towards increased industrialization and job creation in Abia State under Governor Otti's administration.
