Sokoto Govt Approves N1.6bn for Fertiliser, Seeds

The Sokoto State Government has approved the procurement of assorted fertilisers, improved seeds, and agrochemicals valued at approximately N1.6 billion. This initiative is designed to complement the agricultural inputs already acquired by local councils across the state.

Executive Council Decision

The approval was announced following the State Executive Council meeting held on Thursday at the Council Chamber, Government House, Sokoto. The primary objective is to ensure that farmers receive these essential inputs at the onset of the rainy season, thereby maximising their benefits during the cropping season.

Additional Approvals

The council also sanctioned the purchase of 1,200 units of Daylong motorcycles at a cost of N1.609 billion. These motorcycles will be provided to civil servants under a loan scheme, fulfilling a pledge made by Governor Ahmed Aliyu during this year's May Day celebration in Sokoto.
