Taiwan has officially released its updated eVisa policy for 2026, naming Mauritius as the sole African country whose citizens are eligible to apply. The announcement, made public on the official Taiwan eVisa website, confirms that while numerous countries across other continents qualify, only one African nation made the list.
Taiwan eVisa Validity and Stay Duration
The Taiwan eVisa is valid for three months from the date of issuance. Successful applicants are permitted to remain in the country for up to 30 days. This policy aims to streamline travel for eligible nationals while maintaining clear entry limits.
According to the Taiwanese government, the eVisa simplifies the application process for short-term visits, including tourism and business. The list of eligible countries is reviewed periodically, and Mauritius is the only African country included for 2026.
Only African Country: Mauritius
Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, stands as the exclusive African country on the list. Other eligible countries span Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania, but no other African nation meets the criteria under the current policy.
The Taiwanese eVisa system allows travelers to apply online, reducing the need for in-person embassy visits. Approved eVisas are electronically linked to the applicant's passport.
Georgia's Visa-Free Policy for African Countries
In related travel policy news, Georgia has released its own list of African countries eligible for visa-free entry. Citizens of Botswana, Mauritius, Seychelles, and South Africa can enter Georgia without a visa and stay for up to one year, subject to immigration rules. This policy offers more flexibility for travelers from these four nations.
Both Taiwan and Georgia continue to update their visa regulations, reflecting changing diplomatic and economic relationships with African countries.
