Bi-Courtney Implements Sharp 169% Increase in Car Park Tariffs at MMA2

Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), the operator of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2) in Lagos, has announced a substantial revision of its car park tariffs, raising them by approximately 169% across various vehicle categories. The company stated that this adjustment, which took effect on April 1, 2026, after a two-week notice period, is primarily aimed at restoring order, improving safety standards, and creating an enhanced passenger experience for users of the terminal.

Detailed Breakdown of the New Tariff Structure

Under the revised pricing scheme, sedan cars are now required to pay N3,500 for the first hour of parking, a significant jump from previous rates. Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) face an even higher charge of N4,000 for the initial hour. Large buses are subject to a notably steep cost, with a first-hour fee of N20,000. For subsequent hours, sedans and SUVs are billed at N2,500 each, while overnight parking has seen a dramatic surge to N50,000, up from the earlier rate of N6,000.

Additionally, the company has introduced a new penalty of N25,000 for vehicle owners who lose or damage their parking tickets. This latest tariff increase marks a significant departure from the previous pricing structure, which had already undergone adjustments in recent months.

Comparison with Previous Rates and Context

Prior to this revision, sedan cars were charged N1,300 for the first hour, but this was later adjusted to N2,500 a few months ago, with subsequent hours costing just N500. Similarly, SUVs initially cost N1,800, which was increased to N3,500 for the first hour, with the same N500 hourly extension fee. The new tariffs represent a more aggressive pricing strategy, reflecting Bi-Courtney's focus on operational improvements and safety enhancements at the airport terminal.

The move comes amid ongoing efforts by airport operators to balance revenue generation with passenger convenience and security measures. By implementing these changes, Bi-Courtney aims to address concerns related to parking management and ensure a smoother experience for travelers using MMA2.
