Falcon Aerospace Appoints Captain Ahmed Borodo to Board Amid Global Expansion
Captain Ahmed Borodo Joins Falcon Aerospace as Director

In a strategic move to bolster its leadership, Falcon Aerospace Limited has announced the appointment of Captain Ahmed Borodo as a Non-Executive Director. This decision comes as the Nigerian aviation company consolidates its recent international expansion and aims to strengthen its corporate governance.

A Strategic Appointment for Global Ambitions

Captain Ahmed Borodo, the CEO of Flybird Aircraft Management Services Limited, brings a wealth of experience as both a pilot and an aviation executive to the board of Falcon Aerospace. The company's CEO, Erika Achum, emphasized that this appointment aligns with the firm's growth phase. "As we grow and consolidate our position in the business aviation market across Africa and the rest of the world, we are constituting our board with eminent personalities whose vision and qualities align with our values," Achum stated. She expressed delight in welcoming Captain Borodo, highlighting his prior involvement with the company.

Notably, Borodo played a key role in Falcon Aero's early operations and was instrumental in the 2024 creation of Aruba-based OrientJets, a partnership between Falcon and his company, Flybird.

Falcon Aerospace's Rapid Growth Trajectory

Falcon Aerospace, the parent company of business aviation firm VivaJets, has experienced significant growth over the past two years. The company, which provides aircraft charter, management, sales, and acquisition services, has evolved into a fully licensed aviation entity. Its expansion is marked by several key milestones:

  • In January 2025, it obtained its Air Operating Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
  • In October 2025, it secured a substantial $10 million debt investment from British-based TLG Capital to support further expansion and operational stability.
  • Its portfolio now includes digital aviation platforms like FlyPJX and CharterXE, as well as tech incubation arms Instig Labs and The Adrenalina.

Captain Borodo commented on his appointment, saying, "I feel honoured to be appointed to the board of this highly innovative and dynamic organisation. I was privileged to have been part of Falcon Aero’s story from the beginning... My commitment to aviation excellence aligns with Falcon Aero’s vision and values."

Governance and Future Direction

Chief Operating Officer Tejumade Salami clarified that Borodo's role will provide independent oversight and strategic guidance. This is crucial as Falcon Aerospace navigates a rapidly changing global aviation market. "His appointment underscores the company’s commitment to robust corporate governance and its mission to integrate top-tier industry expertise at the highest levels of decision-making," Salami noted.

Captain Borodo's credentials are impressive. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s in Development Studies from Ado Bayero University, Kano. He is a seasoned pilot, having obtained his FAA Private Pilot License in 2007 and Commercial Multi-Engine Certifications from Flight Safety International in the United States. His career includes flying for Virgin Nigeria Airways, Gyro Air, and Azman Air Services. He also serves on the boards of Airalay Capital Limited, Rehoboth Insurance Brokers, and Flybird Capital Group in Mauritius.

The appointment is widely seen as a step that will strengthen Falcon Aerospace's governance framework and contribute strategic insight as the company pursues further international growth and operational excellence.
