The Nigerian Railway Corporation has confirmed that four coaches of the Warri-Itakpe Train Service derailed on Monday, June 8. The corporation disclosed this in a statement issued by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Opeifa, noting that emergency response teams and relevant authorities have been deployed to the scene.

Opeifa stated that the corporation is closely monitoring developments and will provide further details as more information becomes available. He clarified that four coaches left the rail track during the incident, an occurrence referred to in railway operations as a derailment.
