Four Suspected Bandits Apprehended in Akure Airport Security Operation
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has officially confirmed the successful arrest of four individuals suspected to be bandits within the immediate vicinity of Akure Airport, located in Ondo State. This significant security development occurred following a meticulously coordinated operation that brought together aviation security forces and local law enforcement agencies.

FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, provided detailed information regarding the incident in a formal statement released on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Agbebire explained that the arrests were initiated after authorities received a distress alert indicating that suspicious individuals had been sighted behind the airport perimeter, specifically towards the Eleyewo community area.
"Security personnel comprising FAAN’s Aviation Security unit, the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and various local security outfits immediately launched a comprehensive joint search operation," Agbebire stated emphatically.

During the intensive search operation, some individuals attempted to flee the area to evade capture. However, through determined and coordinated efforts, four suspects were eventually apprehended by the security teams. These individuals were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force Area Command for thorough interrogation and further legal proceedings.
