Gateway Air Expands Domestic Network with New Routes Across Nigeria
In a significant move to boost regional connectivity and provide enhanced travel options, Gateway Air, the airline owned by Ogun State, has officially announced the launch of new scheduled flight operations covering key Nigerian cities. The announcement was made in a statement released over the weekend by Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
New Flight Routes and Schedule Details
According to the statement, Gateway Air will commence its scheduled flight services on Monday, 13th April 2026, with operations on the following routes:
- Iperu to Abuja
- Abuja to Port Harcourt
- Abuja to Calabar
- Abuja to Jos
- Iperu to Kano
The airline has specified that these one-way flights will operate on a regular schedule, available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This schedule is designed to offer passengers reliable and convenient travel options, catering to both business and leisure travelers.
Affordable Pricing and Economic Impact
Gateway Air has set economy fares as low as ₦100,000 for these routes, making air travel more accessible to a broader segment of the population. This development is seen as a crucial step in improving regional accessibility and delivering efficient, reliable air travel services across Nigeria.
The expansion is expected to support economic growth by enhancing connectivity between major cities, facilitating trade, tourism, and business activities. By linking Iperu, the airline's base, with Abuja and other key destinations, Gateway Air aims to strengthen inter-state travel networks.
Passenger Information and Safety Commitment
Passengers are encouraged to make early bookings to secure their seats and stay updated on flight schedules and additional information through the airline's official communication channels. Hon. Kayode Akinmade emphasized that Gateway Air remains steadfast in its commitment to providing safe, efficient, and customer-focused air travel services.
This initiative underscores the airline's dedication to enhancing Nigeria's aviation sector and meeting the growing demand for domestic air travel. With these new routes, Gateway Air is poised to become a key player in connecting Nigerians across various regions, contributing to the nation's overall transportation infrastructure.
