LAMATA Secures Stakeholder Backing for Ketu Lay-by Overhaul and Receives New Trains
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has successfully obtained crucial community support for its Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) Package 1 initiative, following a high-level engagement with key stakeholders in the Agboyi-Ketu area. This pivotal meeting finalised detailed plans to transform the Ketu Lay-by (Demurin Bound) into a world-class modern bus terminal, marking a significant step forward in urban transport development.
Transforming Ketu Lay-by into a Modern Hub
This project is an essential component of the broader Ketu–Alapere–Akanimodo corridor, designed to address persistent traffic bottlenecks and create a structured, dignifying environment for the thousands of commuters who rely on this route daily. By securing stakeholder buy-in, LAMATA aims to ensure the project's smooth implementation, enhancing public transport efficiency and safety in one of Lagos's busy transit points.
Governor Sanwo-Olu Receives 24-Car Trains for Red Line
In a parallel development, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has taken delivery of 24-car trains to bolster operations on the Lagos Red Line rail services. Announced via his official X handle, this acquisition is expected to significantly improve capacity, reduce waiting times, and make daily commuting more seamless for Lagos residents.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration's commitment to building reliable infrastructure, stating: "We remain focused on building a transport system that is efficient and reliable for everyone. That is still our goal." This move underscores the state's ongoing efforts to modernise its transport network and alleviate congestion challenges.
The combined initiatives highlight Lagos's proactive approach to upgrading its public transport systems, with LAMATA's community-driven projects and new rail assets set to enhance mobility and quality of life for commuters across the metropolis.
