Nigeria's aviation sector is set to reach a new altitude as it prepares to host its inaugural international airshow, a landmark event coinciding with the industry's 100-year anniversary. The Nigeria International Airshow (NIA), scheduled for December 2nd to 4th, 2025, will be held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja.
A Historic Milestone for Nigerian Aviation
This event represents a dual celebration: the first of its kind on Nigerian soil and a commemoration of a century of aviation in the country. The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has firmly stated the nation's readiness for this historic gathering. He emphasized the airshow's broader continental significance, noting it will help bridge critical connectivity gaps across Africa.
"The show will also increase the synergy between financial institutions and the aviation industry towards contributing to a sustainable economy and overall environmental ambition," Keyamo stated. He further highlighted its role in achieving "a more integrated aviation industry to accelerate the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)."

Driving this ambitious project is a collaboration between the Ministry and Flybird Aircraft Management Services Ltd (Flybird AMSL), a key sponsor. The firm has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing Nigeria's aviation sector through innovation and strategic partnerships.

According to a statement from the minister's Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, a core part of the centenary celebration will be the recognition of 40 Legends of Aviation. This distinguished group includes veterans, pioneers, administrators, engineers, pilots, and air traffic controllers whose foundational work built Nigeria's vibrant aviation sector.
The event promises to be a major convergence point for the global aviation community, featuring:

- Live aerial displays and exhibitions.
