The Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has officially confirmed that an avoidable train incident occurred earlier today near Asham station. According to a statement released by the NRC, the incident took place at approximately 10:30 a.m. and involved a rear locomotive making contact with a passenger coach due to a coupling issue.
Injuries and Emergency Response
Preliminary reports indicate that some passengers sustained injuries during the incident. The NRC has assured that these individuals were promptly attended to and transported to a nearby medical facility for proper care. Importantly, no fatalities were recorded in this event.

He stated, "We heard a loud bang and the train jolted to a stop flinging people across. Passengers got hit and most are bleeding and severely injured. Train delayed for some 30 minutes and resumed to Kubwa."
The NRC disclosed that the train arrived at Idu station at about 10:39 a.m., which was 38 minutes behind schedule. This delay was attributed to the time required to remove the affected rear locomotive and coach, identified as Sp 0006, from the scene.
