Ogun State Government Appoints SAHCO as Exclusive Ground Handler for Gateway International Airport

The Ogun State Government has officially appointed Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc. as the sole ground handling service provider at the newly operational Gateway International Airport in Iperu. This strategic decision underscores SAHCO's prominent role in Nigeria's aviation industry and its commitment to enhancing airport operations across the country.

SAHCO's Leadership and Operational Excellence Recognized

In a statement released yesterday, Vanessa Uansohia, Head of Corporate Communications at SAHCO, highlighted that this appointment reflects the company's leadership position in Nigeria's aviation sector. Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of SAHCO, emphasized that being selected as the exclusive ground handler at Gateway International Airport is a testament to the firm's reputation for operational excellence, stringent safety standards, and world-class service delivery.

Dr. Afolabi noted, "This opportunity to serve as the sole ground handler demonstrates the trust placed in SAHCO's capabilities and our consistent track record in providing efficient and reliable aviation services nationwide." He further explained that this milestone reinforces SAHCO's dedication to supporting the growth of Nigeria's aviation industry through ongoing investments in modern equipment, skilled personnel, and innovative service solutions.

Comprehensive Services and Economic Impact

During the commissioning of the airport, SAHCO played a critical role by delivering comprehensive ground handling services. These included ramp handling, passenger facilitation, cargo handling, and operational support, ensuring a smooth and successful event. Dr. Afolabi expressed optimism that the airport's commissioning will significantly boost regional connectivity, stimulate economic activities, and create new opportunities for trade and investment in Ogun State and beyond.

Additionally, SAHCO has partnered with Allied Air, a Nigerian-owned cargo airline, to enhance cargo operations at the airport. This collaboration aims to streamline cargo processing, particularly for time-sensitive and high-value goods, utilizing the modern warehouse complex for both import and export activities. Dr. Afolabi stated that this initiative is expected to drive capacity growth in key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and e-commerce, contributing to broader economic development.

Dr. Afolabi concluded, "Being selected as the sole ground handler at such a landmark event highlights our readiness to deliver seamless operations at new and existing airports across Nigeria, further solidifying our commitment to excellence in the aviation industry."
