TCN Announces Seven-Hour Power Outage in Iwo, Bowen

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned seven-hour power outage in parts of Osun State as it carries out routine annual maintenance on its transmission infrastructure.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Public Affairs Officer of TCN, Ndidi Mbah, said the maintenance exercise would be conducted on the 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the Iwo Transmission Substation on June 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

According to the company, the scheduled maintenance forms part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the reliability, efficiency and optimal performance of the national transmission network. TCN explained that the exercise would temporarily affect electricity supply to customers served by the affected transmission facility, as the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) would be unable to receive power from the substation during the maintenance period.

“As a result of the planned maintenance, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity to its customers in Iwo Town, Bowen University and Rabbish for seven hours only,” the statement said.

The company noted that power supply would be restored immediately after the successful completion of the maintenance work. TCN further apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause and appealed for their understanding and cooperation during the exercise.

The transmission firm reiterated its commitment to maintaining a stable and efficient power transmission network across the country through periodic maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.
