The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed the death of at least three passengers following the derailment of the Warri-Itakpe train on Monday evening in Agbor, Delta State. The incident occurred when the train reportedly veered off the tracks, causing panic among passengers.
NRC Confirms Fatalities and Rescue Efforts
In a statement signed by the Managing Director, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, the NRC expressed deep regret over the incident. The corporation stated that rescue and emergency response operations were immediately activated, and all passengers on board have been accounted for. “Sadly, three fatalities have been confirmed at this time,” the statement read.

The NRC assured the public that relevant authorities are assessing the full circumstances surrounding the derailment. Support is being provided to affected passengers, and the corporation urged the public to rely only on verified information and official updates. “The thoughts and prayers of all Nigerians are with the victims and their loved ones,” the statement added.
