Turkish Airlines, Samsung Launch Smart Baggage Tracking for Travellers
Turkish Airlines, Samsung launch smart baggage tracking

In a significant move to enhance passenger comfort through technology, Turkish Airlines has announced a strategic partnership with global electronics giant Samsung. This collaboration introduces a new Smart Tagged Baggage Service, set to revolutionise how travellers keep tabs on their luggage.

How the Smart Baggage Service Works

The innovative service, which officially began on December 1st, 2025, leverages Samsung's SmartThings Find platform. Passengers who use a Galaxy SmartTag on their bags will be able to track their luggage seamlessly through the app. This technology promises faster and more efficient resolution for misplaced or delayed baggage, giving travellers greater peace of mind.

Notably, Turkish Airlines has become the first airline globally to implement SmartThings technologies specifically for passenger baggage tracking. A unique feature allows users to upload a photo of their luggage directly within the SmartThings Find app, making visual identification much simpler at baggage claim areas.

Leadership Comments on the Digital Leap

Commenting on this milestone, Kerem Kızıltunç, Turkish Airlines' Chief Information Technologies Officer, emphasised the airline's commitment to innovation. "Turkish Airlines continues to lead the industry on its road to digitalization," Kızıltunç stated. "We are delighted to partner with Samsung to leverage their cutting-edge technology for the benefit of our passengers. We will continue to strengthen our industry leadership with technological collaborations that prioritize guest satisfaction."

From Samsung's side, Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, highlighted the partnership's goal. "Samsung is expanding the SmartThings Find experience through partnerships across industries to help customers stay connected and at ease wherever they are," Jung said. "We are delighted to work with Turkish Airlines to deliver a more convenient and streamlined travel experience."

Future of Passenger-Focused Tech

This initiative is a core part of Turkish Airlines' broader digital transformation strategy, driven by a passenger-first mindset. The airline has revealed plans to extend the use of SmartThings Find beyond baggage services. The goal is to integrate its location-based capabilities into future digital solutions aimed at enriching every stage of the passenger journey.

As the national flag carrier of Türkiye, this partnership with Samsung underscores Turkish Airlines' unwavering commitment to setting new standards in the aviation industry through technology and strategic collaboration.
