The Gulfstream G200 Galaxy executive jet, registered in the United States, departed from La Romana International Airport bound for Austin, Texas. Shortly after takeoff, the crew reported technical problems and attempted to return to the airport for an emergency landing. The plane lost stability and crashed in a massive fireball on the runway, killing the pilot and co-pilot instantly.

Yadier Molina, who was waiting in Texas with his family and friends to board the flight to Puerto Rico, expressed his grief in an Instagram post. He wrote, "My condolences to the pilots and their families. This plane was on its way to pick up me, my family, and friends in Texas to return to Puerto Rico. This is all so heartbreaking."
