Ayman Fahmy has been appointed as the Managing Director for West Africa at Mondelēz International, according to a statement from the company. The announcement was made by Dr Frederick Mordi, Head of Corporate Communications and Government Affairs, confirming that Fahmy's role commenced on May 15, 2026.
New Leadership to Drive Growth
Fahmy is tasked with spearheading the company's business operations and accelerating market expansion across the West Africa region. He will also lead Cadbury Nigeria PLC, the listed Nigerian entity where Mondelēz International manufactures local flagship brands such as Cadbury Bournvita, Cadbury 3 in 1 Hot Chocolate Drink, TomTom, and Buttermint.
Folake Ogundipe, who served as interim Managing Director, has resumed her role as Financial Director, continuing to support the strong management and performance of the Nigeria business.
Extensive FMCG Experience
Fahmy is a seasoned FMCG leader with over 25 years of experience, including significant stints driving transformational growth across Africa. He previously served as General Manager at Shan Foods, leading the Middle East, Levant, and Africa business. Prior to that, he built a career at Reckitt Benckiser as General Manager for GCC, Levant, and Southern and Central Africa, where he grew the business multi-fold through go-to-market re-engineering, distributor expansion, and multi-year retailer partnerships.
