Dangote Industries Issues Public Alert on Escalating Fraudulent Schemes
Dangote Industries Limited has issued a critical warning to Nigerians regarding a surge in fraudulent activities being conducted under its name and that of its executives. The company has identified an alarming increase in impersonation and scams across various social media platforms and other channels.
Rising Cases of Impersonation and Deceptive Practices
In an official statement released by its management, Dangote Industries highlighted that scammers are actively targeting unsuspecting individuals with fake investment opportunities, business proposals, charity requests, and employment offers. These deceptive schemes are designed to extort money or obtain sensitive personal information from victims.
The company emphasized that neither its Group President, Aliko Dangote, nor any executive director, including the Group Executive Director for Commercial Operations in Oil and Gas, solicits funds, investments, contracts, or personal details from the public through social media. This clarification extends to members of the Dangote family, such as Fatima Aliko Dangote, Mariya Aliko Dangote, and Halima Aliko Dangote, who do not engage in such activities on platforms like WhatsApp, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, or Instagram.
Official Communications and Security Collaboration
Dangote Industries stressed that all legitimate communications from the company are disseminated exclusively through verified corporate channels and recognized media outlets. The firm has reiterated that its executives do not initiate direct contact with private individuals on social media for financial dealings, business opportunities, or personal requests.
The company is currently collaborating with relevant security and law enforcement agencies to track down and prosecute those responsible for these fraudulent activities. Management has urged the public to report any suspicious messages, calls, or social media accounts claiming affiliation with Dangote Industries or its leadership to the appropriate authorities without delay.
Background on Recent Job Opportunities
This warning comes amidst legitimate job openings announced by the Dangote Group across its food, cement, and corporate divisions. These positions, available in locations such as Ibese, Obajana, Okpella, DSR P-Apapa, Lagos, and Dangote Cement’s operations in Ivory Coast, are open to Nigerians with diplomas, degrees, or relevant professional certifications.
Interested candidates are advised to apply exclusively through the official Dangote Group careers portal for detailed job descriptions and submission of applications. The company underscores the importance of verifying all information through official sources to avoid falling victim to scams.
