FG Approves New Salary Structure for NiMet Workers

The federal government has approved a new salary structure and an updated, enhanced Condition of Service for workers of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), effective from June 1, 2026. This was disclosed in a letter with reference No. 58957/S.2/T1/40, issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and addressed to the Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

Details of the Approval

The approval, signed by Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, Permanent Secretary of General Services on behalf of the SGF, was titled “Re-Request for Salary Relativity Implementation in the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).” The letter stated: “I am directed to refer to your letter Ref. No. SWC/S/04/S.227/T/52, dated 23rd March, 2026, on the above subject and to convey that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has approved the recommended consolidated salary structure for NiMet with an effective date of June 1, 2026. A copy of the approved salary structure is attached.”

The letter further noted: “I am to further inform you that approval was also granted for the proposed NiMet’s Staff’s Condition of Service, a copy of which is attached as appendix 11. Please accept the regards of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.”
