In a significant act of corporate compassion, KloverHarris Limited, a Lagos-based business consultancy firm, has extended vital relief to 150 residents of the Alpha Beach Settlement in Okun Alfa, a coastal community located within the Eti-Osa Local Council of Lagos State. These individuals have been displaced due to the ongoing construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a major infrastructure project aimed at enhancing national connectivity and economic growth.
Corporate Social Responsibility in Action
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, KloverHarris Limited distributed a comprehensive package of essential items to the affected residents. The palliatives included staple foods such as rice, beans, garri, salt, semolina, sugar, and vegetable oil, alongside personal care products like toothpaste, milk, detergents, soap, and palm oil. This gesture is designed to alleviate the immediate hardships faced by the community members who have been uprooted from their homes.
Leadership Perspectives on the Intervention
During the distribution event, Ms. Bukola Ariyibi, the Managing Director of KloverHarris Limited, emphasized the company's dedication to addressing the challenges encountered by vulnerable populations across Nigeria. She articulated that the primary goal of this intervention is to mitigate the distress caused by displacement, aligning with the firm's business philosophy of fostering strategic relationships that contribute to positive socio-economic development.
Ariyibi further highlighted the broader context of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, noting its anticipated positive impacts on the country's developmental objectives. She reassured that KloverHarris will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders to support nation-building efforts and promote human progress through similar strategic interventions.
Community Appreciation and Response
The relief effort was met with heartfelt gratitude from the Alpha Beach Settlement community. Yusuf Elegushi Atewolara, the Baale (Traditional Ruler) of the settlement, praised KloverHarris Limited for its exemplary empathy and charitable actions towards those affected by the displacement. He described the gesture as one that the community will always cherish and be thankful for, underscoring the importance of corporate support in times of crisis.
This initiative not only provides immediate relief but also sets a precedent for how businesses can play a crucial role in supporting communities impacted by large-scale infrastructure projects, fostering a sense of solidarity and shared responsibility in national development.
