Indomie Nigeria has issued an official clarification to address growing public concern over a reported safety alert from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). The company seeks to correct misinformation linking the alert to its products sold within the country.
The Core of the Clarification
In a detailed press statement, the company, a subsidiary of Dufil Prima Foods, made several key points clear. The specific 'Vegetable Flavour' noodle product referenced in the NAFDAC safety alert is not connected to its Nigerian operations. The firm emphasized that it does not manufacture, import, distribute, or sell any noodle variant named 'Vegetable flavour' in Nigeria. This product is entirely absent from Indomie Nigeria's official portfolio.
Origin of the Alert and Local Assurance
The company directed attention to the details within NAFDAC's own release. The alert was a precautionary measure based on a product recall initiated in France in August 2025. This means the issue originated from a foreign market and the alert was issued to safeguard Nigerians from potentially imported, non-compliant goods.
Indomie Nigeria reassured consumers that all noodles produced at its local facilities undergo strict quality control processes and are in full compliance with NAFDAC regulations. The statement highlighted that the importation of noodles into Nigeria is prohibited by law, reinforcing that its legitimate products are made domestically.
Identifying Genuine Products
The company also addressed imagery circulating online. It noted that the packaging and product display shown in various reports are inconsistent with Indomie Nigeria's approved packaging, branding, and labelling standards. This discrepancy serves as a red flag for consumers.
Indomie Nigeria urged the public and media platforms to rely on verified information from official sources. A crucial distinction was made between noodles manufactured in Nigeria and those that might be imported illegally. Consumers were advised to treat any product with packaging different from the approved local branding with caution.
The clarification aims to quell unwarranted fears and protect the brand's reputation, while also educating the public on how to identify authentic, safe-to-consume Indomie noodles produced within the country.
