MultiChoice Nigeria Appoints Kemi Omotosho as New CEO in January 2026
Kemi Omotosho Takes Over as MultiChoice Nigeria CEO

MultiChoice Nigeria, a subsidiary of the Canal+ Group, has announced a significant change in its top leadership. John Ugbe has retired from his role as Chief Executive Officer after approximately 15 years leading the company. Stepping into this pivotal position is Kemi Omotosho, whose appointment as Chief Executive Officer for Nigeria is effective from January 2026.

A Legacy of Steady Leadership and New Vision

John Ugbe's tenure at the helm of MultiChoice Nigeria was marked by navigating the company through major transformations within the broadcasting and entertainment industry. He is credited with strengthening the company's operational foundations and ensuring its long-term resilience in a dynamic and competitive market. His departure marks the end of a significant chapter for the pay-TV giant in Nigeria.

His successor, Kemi Omotosho, is no stranger to the MultiChoice ecosystem. She brings to the role over two decades of leadership experience spanning the media, telecommunications, and digital sectors across Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. Her career within the MultiChoice Group has been extensive and impressive.

Omotosho's Proven Track Record

Omotosho has held several high-ranking positions, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management for MultiChoice Nigeria. She later took on the role of Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa, where she provided functional leadership across more than 50 markets. Immediately prior to this appointment, she served as the Regional Director for Southern Africa, bearing full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for a portfolio of seven countries.

This background equips her with a deep understanding of both the Nigerian market and the broader African landscape. The company stated that her proven ability to lead complex organisations, drive disciplined growth, and build high-performing teams will be crucial as she takes the reins.

Focus on Consumers, Content, and the Future

In her new capacity, Omotosho will be responsible for steering MultiChoice Nigeria's overall strategy, daily operations, and engagement with all stakeholders. She will build upon the foundation established by her predecessor while charting a new course for the future.

Commenting on her new role, Omotosho expressed her honour at the appointment. "It is a privilege to be entrusted with the leadership of MultiChoice Nigeria at this important moment," she said. "Nigeria remains one of the group’s most strategic and dynamic markets. I look forward to working with our teams and partners to deepen our relationship with consumers, champion local storytelling and the creative economy, as well as build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value."

This leadership transition signals a new era for MultiChoice Nigeria as it continues to adapt to evolving consumer demands and a rapidly changing media environment under the ownership of Canal+.
