The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has recognised the Managing Director of Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Olufemi Asenuga, and its Group Chairman, Akin Ogunbiyi, for their significant contributions to the development of Nigeria's insurance sector.
At the 2026 Awards and Recognition Ceremony held in Lagos, the association honoured Asenuga for his service on its Governing Council from 2023 to 2024. His efforts in promoting professionalism and enhancing confidence in the industry were particularly highlighted. Ogunbiyi was also recognised for his contributions during his tenure on the NIA Governing Council from 2014 to 2017.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the NIA stated that the awards were designed to celebrate individuals whose leadership and service have helped reposition the insurance industry for sustainable growth. According to him, the honourees have demonstrated commitment, integrity, and vision in advancing the ideals of the industry, especially in strengthening governance frameworks and building public trust.
In response to the honours, the Head of Corporate Communications at Mutual Benefits, Gideon Ayogu, remarked that the recognition reflects both individual excellence and the company's sustained dedication to industry development. He added that the awards underscore the firm's focus on deepening trust, driving innovation, and contributing to the long-term growth of the insurance market.
